Does Medicare cover the purchase of an eMed-ID package?
At this time, Medicare does not cover the initial cost of this life saving medical service. However, most eMed-ID Representatives do offer a “Medicare Discount.”
Is the purchase of an eMed-ID package tax deductible?
Yes, the purchase of the eMed-ID medical service is IRS tax deductible as a medical expense.
What happens if I lose my eMed-ID device? Is my device password protected?
Your eMed-ID device or Caregiver Cards only contain information that is used to help save your life in an emergency. They do not contain information such as your social security number that could be used to steal your identity. Your eMed-ID device is not password protected. If it were, and you were unconscious and couldn’t communicate your password; emergency personnel would not be able to use the device to save your life.
Is my personal health information stored on the internet?
No. Your information is only stored on your eMed-ID device, giving you total control of your personal records.
What happens if I lose my eMed-ID device? How do I get a replacement?
You would need to contact your local eMed-ID Representative and bring your hard copy of you PHR we gave you. They then can simply make you another device for a small fee. No need to fill out anymore paperwork. We do not retain any of your personal medical information on file or on the internet. All of your original documents are returned to you when you receive your eMed-ID package.
How do Emergency personnel know that I have an eMed-ID device?
Emergency responders are trained to look for ID in wallets or purses in an accident, or on your refrigerator in your home. In your eMed-ID package you will receive four caregiver cards and two refrigerator ICE Cards (In Case of Emergency) magnets. You would carry one of the caregiver cards in your purse or wallet and give the other one to a spouse, friend or caregiver. Once the EMT locates your ID card, the card has instructions to look for the specific device you are wearing or have purchased. Additionally the device has instructions on how to use it by placing it into computer USB port.
Will my eMed-ID device work in any computer?
Yes. Every computer that was built from the 1990’s forward has a Universal Serial Bus or USB slot. The file can be read easily as the format is in HTML or Hypertext Markup Language which is what most websites are written.
Will this work on APPLE or MAC OS?
Yes. Can be “Read” in Apple or MAC OS.
I live up North part of the year. Will this work in both locations?
Yes, your eMed-ID device works anywhere in the world.
How do I make changes on my eMed-ID device if my health or medications change?
You may update your information on your eMed-ID device at any time by simply plugging it into a computer and using the self-contained update utility.
Do I need special software to read or update this device?
No additional software is needed or loaded on your computer. Everything resides on the eMed-ID device.
What is the cost of updating or changing information?
